Is L'Avion Café dog-friendly?
Very. L'Avion runs under the supervision of two Chief Pilots (a Bernedoodle and a Goldendoodle), and four-legged passengers are welcome on the tarmac, our outdoor area. Ask about a pup cup. Per health code, furry copilots enjoy theirs outside. Meet the management on the crew page.
What's in a pup cup?
A small cup of whipped cream, for dogs. Ask at the counter. Per health code, furry copilots enjoy theirs on the tarmac.
Can my dog come inside?
Service animals, always. Pet dogs hold their layover on the tarmac, the outdoor seating, where the people-watching is better anyway, and where the pup cups are served.
Who are Captain Daisy and Snickers?
The Chief Pilots: a Bernedoodle and a Goldendoodle who oversee the entire operation, mostly from a horizontal position. You've seen the logo. Meet the management.
Is non-dairy milk really free?
Yes. Oat, almond, and soy are always complimentary. No surcharge, ever. Any milk, any drink, same price.
Do you serve decaf?
Yes. Any espresso drink can be made decaf, hot or iced, at no extra charge — choose it when you order ahead or just ask at the counter. It's what our pilots drink on duty. Steady paws on the controls.
What do Coach, Business, and First mean?
They're our cabin sizes. Hot espresso drinks pour 8 oz (Coach, 1 shot), 12 oz (Business, 2 shots), and 16 oz (First, 3 shots). Iced drinks pour bigger: 12, 16, and 20 oz. Matcha and chai skip the espresso. Coach is the listed price, Business +$0.70, First +$1.20. The names are the only class system here — every cup gets the same care. Can I order ahead?
Yes. Order at order.lavioncafe.com, get a boarding pass with a flight number, and skip the line at pickup. That's the Fly By.
Do you bake in-house?
Every morning. Croissants and cinnamon rolls, baked fresh daily. When they sell out, they're gone until the next morning's bake. The early boarding group knows.
Do you have gluten-free options?
We bake croissants and cinnamon rolls in-house every morning, which means flour is in the air and on our surfaces. So we don't call anything gluten-free — even items with no gluten ingredients carry a real chance of cross-contact. If you're celiac or highly sensitive, we'd rather be straight with you than guess wrong.
I have a nut allergy — what should I know?
Please read this before ordering: we work with real peanut butter and real pistachio crème every day for our drink sauces, alongside dairy and wheat, on shared equipment in a small space. We can't guarantee any drink or pastry is free of cross-contact with peanuts or tree nuts. If your allergy is severe, please weigh that risk carefully — and ask the crew anytime; we'll walk you through exactly what goes into a drink.
Where are you, exactly?
338 E 92nd Street, between First and Second Avenue on the Upper East Side. A short walk from the 96th St Q station, Carl Schurz Park, and Asphalt Green, and one block from the ASPCA Adoption Center.
